"Hungry"
(written by Kristin Hersh)

Houses and rooms are filled with perfumes
And we slide away on the ice
Your tears are Herradura silver
Twilight and dusk, snowflakes and dust
All look the same on the ice
Our tears are Herradura silver and
Clean air, liquid on our tongues,
We're hungry
Violet longing, yellow suns
Eat me alive while I go hungry, I'm so empty
I'm translucent as a fading snakeskin
Mad and naked as the swan I'm feeding...
Bread
And I'm not dead
And I'm not dead
And I'm not dead
And I'm not dead
Your special charge, the life bangs and sucks
That fill up your skin bag of bones
Jolts me with a thousand volts, I'm hungry
Jilted, jolted, banged and sucked, I'm hungry
Tears of Herradura silver and
Clean air, liquid on our tongues, we're hungry
And I'm not scared
And I'm not scared
And I'm not scared
And I'm not scared

WORDS FROM KRISTIN:
"God knows what it's about (maybe I was hungry when I wrote it)... there's also a swan in it, in Vic Chesnutt's favorite line: "Naked as the swan I'm feeding bread." Vic really likes swans. When Billy first heard "Hungry", his eyes bugged out of his head something awful. He claims this is a good song."
